Orlando Continues is a collection of photo journalist’s stories of our city from the first month after the Pulse tragedy. Many of these photos were shown in the Orlando Weekly, some were also in the Wall Street Journal and the Daily Beast.
We are still healing. It’s unfortunate that tragedy is what it takes to unite people, but it has brought a lot of Orlandoans, and people across the globe, together. Pulse, being a gay nightclub, and the shooting having occurred during the club’s “Latin Night” means this was particularly an attack on these wonderful communities that thrive in Orlando. The world has now seen that we have a large, strong LGBTQ+ community, and a vibrant and active Latin community. The world has also seen that we are not just a vacation and tourist destination–we are a culturally rich and diverse community. The show is comprised of the works of twelve artists, who tell some of the stories–of grief, unity, and the wide spectrum of emotions felt–with their photos.
Orlando Continues features the images of Stephen Allen, Chris Bolton, Monivette Cordeiro, Hannah Glogower, Ashley Inguanta, Patricia Nuss, Lenny Pistorio, Jeremy Reper, Chris Tobar Rodriguez, Joey Roulette, Zachary Scheffer, and Ian Suarez.
The opening reception is Thursday, July 21 from 6-9pm. This event is free.
The exhibition continues through Saturday, August 13.
